A memory map video is a fixed story connected by places
A memory map video moves between meaningful places and presents the pictures or messages associated with them. The viewer watches a sequence you have chosen. An interactive memory map is a separate output in which the viewer explores; a slideshow can be enough when place adds little.
Use a few locations that explain the relationship: a shared city, a public meeting place or a part of a trip. A moving map cannot supply the personal meaning by itself. The photograph, voice or caption explains why each stop matters.
For photos and messages, start with AlbumMap’s occasion Video Maker and With map. The separate Map Animator is the route-focused tool; its detailed camera controls are not the starting instructions for this memory-video workflow.

Watch one complete three-city example
This is the existing fictional “Maya’s birthday” teaching project. Toronto introduces Nora’s memory of a walk, Montreal introduces Owen’s picnic story, and Quebec City introduces Rae’s closing wish. The city assignments are illustrative, not records of travel or where real people recorded.
The finished file combines twelve seconds of map, fifteen seconds of pictures, 25.5 seconds of messages and nine seconds of opening and ending cards: 61.5 seconds in total. It has no background song. The voices are synthetic and contributor visuals are name cards; no real participant appears on camera.
The 25-file input and reproduction pack includes the actual source clips, images and assembly script. Read the descriptive transcript or the complete birthday map-gift walkthrough. The sample is a local combined edit; it does not establish an end-to-end hosted guest-upload or an identical automatic AlbumMap layout.

Choose the builder for the material you have
Open the full-size memory-video chooser screenshot to compare the two starting paths.
Choose Video Maker when you already have the permitted files. Choose Invitation Card + Group Video when you want to collect contributions with an invitation. Select the occasion and With map, then check the names and style in the builder.
You can begin arranging a project without signing in. Sign in and save to keep the album in your account, create a contribution link or complete an account export. A guest contribution link, your editor address and the final viewing copy have different purposes.
Use the collection workflow if others will contribute, and the interactive-map guide if the desired output is exploration rather than a fixed video.

Use a location sheet before moving the map

For your own files, record the filename, contributor, known date or approximation, broad place, caption and permitted audience. Leave an unknown place unresolved until someone can identify it. Several pictures from one stop can stay together instead of sending the camera away and back.
Choose chronological order for a journey or a few meaningful chapters for a life story with gaps. Use a city when an exact private address is unnecessary. A contributor’s current location and the location of an older photograph can be different; keep the explanation with the file.

Review the actual project before choosing its export
- Add the approved pictures, clips and messages. Set each map memory’s place by selecting a location suggestion, rather than leaving uncommitted search text.
- Check order, labels and the time needed to recognize each picture or hear each complete thought. Use the project preview to review the selected material.
- For guest material, review received items under Guest uploads and use Approve or Reject before including them.
- Choose the finished video shape and quality that fit the intended viewing. Read the current plan and export-permission conditions before starting Export video.
- Play the exported file outside the editor and check speech, captions, crops, places and the ending on the intended device.
The sample’s external cutlist is not a promise that the hosted builder reproduces its exact timing. Your media and selected controls need their own end-to-end test.

Keep the local 61.5-second example as an editing reference. Use your own saved-project and delivered-file results to describe a hosted workflow; an externally assembled demonstration cannot establish those results.

Keep access, privacy and the lasting copy explicit
The current plans set guest counts, memory totals, duration and quality. Video-credit exports allow up to four included guest contributions. Free exports grant permission for the public Examples page, although they do not publish automatically; paid exports do not require that permission.
The saved album and a finished download have different lifetimes. Download the finished video within the dashboard’s displayed window, published as 48 hours, and keep the agreed viewing copy separately. Do not assume an exported video preserves the original camera files as retrievable source media.
